Macclesfield Town U19 A travel to the Keepmoat Stadium to face fourth-place Doncaster Rovers.
On Wednesday Macclesfield Town A make the 122.2 miles round trip to the Keepmoat Stadium to face Doncaster Rovers in the EFL CEFA North Central 1.
Macclesfield travel to Doncaster boasting an unbeaten record in the league so far, winning five of those fixtures while drawing one against Sheffield Wednesday. Whereas Doncaster as looking to make it their first win in five league games sitting in fourth place.
Doncaster have had a very up and down season, starting the season strong by beating Shrewsbury Town 7-2 before our A team came out four-nil winners the week after. Doncaster then went on a six-game unbeaten run in the league and cup, winning five of those games including an emphatic 14-0 victory over Manchester City back in October.
In contrast, the Silkmen side have been consistent all season, playing twelve games and winning ten in the process. Only dropping points to Birmingham City after an exciting 3-3 draw in the cup and, most recently to Sheffield Wednesday after a close game which ended one all.
McGuire’s’ side will be looking to gain all three points in this fixture as the young silkmen side look to keep pace with Sheffield Wednesday who are joint top of the league with the Silkmen. The A team will be looking to Tyler James to continue his fantastic record of 20 goals in 12 games. Victory for the Silkmen would see them go to 19 points and it would be all eyes on the Steel City Derby to see if Sheffield Wednesday could gain all three points against close rivals Sheffield United.
McGuire’s side will have to make do without the ever-present Connor Seymour after an injury forced him off in the last game against Nottingham Forest. They will also have to make late fitness calls on Rocco Fregapane and Lewis Price, and they too took knocks in the previous game.
These two teams last met each other back in September as a strong second-half performance swept Doncaster aside by four goals to nil. An opening goal from Josh Clegg followed by a hattrick from Tyler James handed the Silkmen A side all three points on the opening day of the season.
