Match Preview: Macclesfield Town U19 B vs Crewe Alexandra

Macclesfield Town B host top of the table Crewe Alexandra on Wednesday at Egerton Youth Club.

On Wednesday Macclesfield Town B host runaway league leaders Crewe Alexandra at Egerton Youth Club in the EFL CEFA North Central 2 league. 

Macclesfield come into the game looking to bounce back from a three-nil defeat to Port Vale last time out. Crewe come to Egerton with a perfect record in the league so far, playing seven and winning seven, so will prove a stern test for the B team this week. 

Crewe has had a mixed season while doing well in the league winning seven out of seven racking up an impressive 35 goals while only conceding six goals. Crewe didn’t do as well in the cup after getting knocked out in the group stages finishing bottom of group L scoring four times and conceding seventeen goals. 

Macclesfield Town B has been consistent in both league and cup. In the league, they have won four out of their six games only losing to Crewe and Port Vale. In the process, they have managed to score 21 goals and only conceded 12. While in the cup they finished runners up in group C only losing one game against Burton Albion A.

Daniel Whiting’s side will be looking to gain a positive result from this game, but, they will be looking for their leading goal scorers to be on top form for this to happen. Kyah Cahill is leading the goalscorers chart for the B team currently on nine goals closely followed by Harry Massey with eight goals and Luke Draysey on six goals.

Whiting’s side will be at full strength will no players showing any injuries.

These two teams last met each other back in September on the opening week of the league. On the day Crewe ran out four-nil victors. Macclesfield Town B will be looking to avenge that defeat in what should be an exciting game at Egerton Youth Club.
