On Saturday Macclesfield Town XI travel to Sandbach United to continue their pre-season run-in.
The Silkmen XI have been in good form, scoring three goals in their last match at Poynton FC. Tyler James is worth a special mention, grabbing a hattrick in a three-all draw.
Sandbach currently play their trade in The North West Counties Football League. They have also managed to find the net, most recently, in their 5-3 victory against Haughmond FC. Bobby McDonnel got a brace, with goals from Matthew Pearson, Tom Wakefield and Keiran Knapper.
Sandbach was founded in 2004 following a merger with Sandbach Albion and Sandbach Ramblers. Hence why they are nicknamed ‘The Ramblers’. The team made their debut in the FA Cup 2018/19 season but got knocked out by Parkgate in the extra preliminary round.
Last year was when both sides previously met with The Ramblers coming out on top with 6-1 win. Since then, a lot has changed and Macclesfield are expecting a better performance and result.
Macclesfield Town Academy Coach, Daniel Whiting, is wary of Sandbach’s threats whilst being optimistic about the game.
He said: “It will be a great physical test for our XI squad, that’s for sure. Sandbach are a well organised and disciplined side, who don’t mind getting stuck in.”
“I do strongly believe we’ll give them a game as we do have a talented bunch of players and the game will be a battle for both sets of teams.”
Sandbach’s home ground has a capacity of 150 supporters on a first-come-first-served basis. Cost of entry is the following;
Adults – £5
Concessions (Over 65/Students) – £3
Under 16 – Free
