Macclesfield Town U21s are set to face Winstanley Warriors in the North West U21 Division on Sunday 27 Sept.
Despite issues off the pitch, the Silkmen U21s continue to battle on after their 2-2 draw with St Michaels DHFC in their first game of the season.
Goals from Amadou Doumbouya and Andi Kideri were almost enough to seal the three points if it wasn’t for a late injury-time equaliser from the opposition.
In his post-match interview, manager, Paul McGuire, was grateful that the game took place and praised the character of his team.
He said, “We need to keep our head down, keep playing football and wait for things to unfold.”
“For me, the youth football and the academy are totally different from what happens with a limited company, so we’re registered, the lads are registered and they’re ready and they’re selectable.”
The last time the sides met, it was Macclesfield who came out on top, with a 2-0 win back in 2019. Rocco Fregapane netted from a set-piece, whilst Riche Makelele ran the ball past the keeper to make it two.

On their opening game of the season, Winstanley Warriors took all three points against Stockport Town U21s, overcoming Town by three goals to one and will provide a tough test for McGuire’s team.
The Warriors, who are based in Wigan, were founded in 2004 and play their home games at Goose Green. In 2005, the Warriors were awarded F.A. Charter Standard after proving best practice in coaching, child protection, first aid, equal opportunities and administration. They were upgraded to Charter Standard Development in 2008 and have now achieved the highest award of Charter Standard Community Club in 2012.
Kick-off is 13:00 at Platt Lane, with the postcode being M14 7UU.
