Macclesfield Town Under 21’s Reserves continue their North West Development League campaign this Sunday as they welcome second-placed New Mills to Platt Lane.
After last weekend off, Sam Summerbee’s Silkmen will be looking to make it two from two, and leapfrog their opponents, against a New Mills U21 side that also picked up all three points in their opening game of the season.
Following a hard-fought victory at home to Bacup Borough in their first game as a team together, Macclesfield will be ready to go again as they aim to remain unbeaten for as long as possible in the league.
A win for Macclesfield will take them above New Mills in the table, into second place level on points with table toppers Abbey Hey who currently have a 4 goal advantage over the Silkmen.
It won’t be an easy tie tho as New Mills managed to put three past Poynton in their opening game, and Reserves assistant manager Oli Kendrick knows their players will have to be at the top of their game to pick up all three points.
“We were a bit rusty in the opening exchanges against Bacup but as the game went on and we fell into a rhythm I felt we really took the game them.
Training has gone well since and I think we’ll be ready and raring to go from the kick-off against New Mills. It won’t be easy as they’ve clearly got goals in their squad, but if we can get an early lead to put us into the driving seat I’m confident that will suit our players and we can get the win.”
Kick-Off at Platt Lane is at 13:00.
