Macclesfield Town U19 B Team will be looking to bounce back from an opening day defeat at Shrewsbury Town, as they make the journey south to face Birmingham City.
The Silkmen had a tough start to the new season in Shropshire, falling to a 4-0 defeat against a very clinical Shrewsbury side, and will certainly be looking to make a better account of themselves in the Midlands on Wednesday.
Danny Whitings side will see this game as a big opportunity to pick up their first points of the new campaign against a Birmingham side who have shipped 9 goals in their first two games, but will have to work hard defensively to sure up their own vulnerabilities.
In what is certain to be a close game, manager Whiting knows how import the basics of football are going to be to decide who comes out on top of this one.
“We have to hold our hands up and say we were poor against Shrewsbury but we all know that we are a much better team than that.
“To concede four on the opening day is never what you want to start the season with but now we have to regroup and go again.
“Birmingham themselves lost 6-0 to Shrewsbury so going by those results its going to be a close game between us.
“It’ll be a tight game I think so we’re counting on those lads to be clinical and take their chances when we get them.
“It’s important that we just focus on our game defensively to try and keep the clean sheet and then I have full faith in our forwards to find their shooting boots and do the job for us.”
Kick off at Wasthills is 13:30
