Macclesfield FC U19 ‘B’ team returned from lockdown in the perfect fashion with a convincing 5-0 over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
After an end to end start, Josh Andrews did well to dance past two defenders and fire home after 10 minutes to put the silkmen into the lead.
Just five minutes later the Silkmen doubled their lead with Harry Massey beautifully connecting to a superb Jermaine Birch cross from the right-wing to make the score 2-0.
With Wolves coming back into the game some intricate play between the Macclesfield midfield line sent Hayden Roman free on the wing.
His whipped ball was turned goalward by Arron White who saw his point-blank effort saved before Harry Massey slotted home the rebound.
With Macclesfield thoroughly in control of the game, the final result was put within doubt when the referee pointed to the spot and Ollie Jones slotted home.
Not content with his penalty finish, Jones added his name to the scoresheet for a second time.
An incredible run where Ollie Jones managed to evade 5 Wolverhampton Wanderers defenders was superbly finished off into the bottom corner to crown the 5-0 win.
Macclesfield FC ‘B’ Coach Danny Whiting was thrilled with his side’s performance.
“We came out of the traps firing and didn’t let off, it was fantastic
“We’ve had some close games this season that haven’t shown our full potential but today we proved just how good we are
“Wolves are not a bad side but we limited their attacking threat and were clinical going forward to make sure we picked up the win which is the most important thing”
The win sees Macclesfield move to equal points with second place Shrewsbury in the league.
