Macclesfield Town Community Sports Trust hosted the first round of National League Under 11’s Girls Cup at Tythertington High School on Friday 16th February 2018
Wilmslow Academy, Prestbury, St Johns the Evangelist, Gawsworth, Marlbrough all competed to try and progress to the next round of the tournament.

Every team played each other once and at the end the bottom team were knocked out of the cup. Marlborough were the unfortunate team to be knocked out only collecting one point after their four games.
St John’s were the form team with winning all four games with their most impressive victory coming against Prestbury with an 8-0 victory.
In the semi Final Prestbury were drawn to play St John’s and Wilmslow Academy were drawn against Gawsworth.
St John’s won 4-0 in their game to progress to the final and Wilmslow Academy progressed on penalties 2-1 after taking an amazing 14 penalties.
In the final St John’s took the early lead with a well taken shot from the right side of the box going into the far left corner. Wilmslow Academy shocked St Johns by equalizing only two minutes later to take the tie to a penalty shoot out. St Johns won the penalty shoot out 4-3 after a great save by their Keeper.
They will now represent Macclesfield Town in the Regional Finals where they will aim to reach the grand finals at Wembley Stadium.
Community manager Paul McGuire had this to say about the Tournament ” What a fantastic effort by all the schools who came down. There was some fantastic football on show today. Congratulations to St John’s who are the winners today we are looking forward to the Regional Finals now!”
