Match Preview: Derby County U19 B vs Macclesfield FC U19 C

Macclesfield FC U19 ‘C’ are finally back in action after well over a months break as they travel to the East Midlands to take on a Derby County ‘B’ team who currently sit top of the CEFA League Central 2 Division.

In what will be a tough test for Sam Summberbee’s young Silkmen side, Macclesfield will be looking to pick up their first back to back wins of the season following November’s 2-1 win against the Rams ‘F’ outfit.
Derby will likely be strong favourites going into the game unbeaten this season and sat top of the division above the Silkmen, but a spirited display last time out and with a lot of hard  work put in on the training pitch during the interval are all reasons for Macclesfield to believe that an upset is possible on Wednesday afternoon.
Derby certainly has a strong football and education program in place with their A team reaching the CEFA Northern Cup final last season. The course offers students the chance to complete A-Levels as well as BTECs and NCFE qualifications all while playing a high level of competitive football.
Macclesfield coach Sam Summerbee is happy to be back and looking forward to a challenging game.
“It’s been so long since we’ve last had a game so the lads are ready and raring to go.
“Derby is a really good team and we know that its going to be a hard game but we just need to focus on keeping it tight at the back and if it gets to the 80th minute and we’re still in it you never know what could happen.
“Footballs a funny game and not every game goes as everyone thinks it will so we’ve just got to believe in ourselves and leave everything out on the pitch, if we do that I cant ask for any more from the lads.”
Kick-Off at the Derby County Community Trust is at 12:30.
