Knutsford Walking Football

After the success of our walking football sessions in Macclesfield we have set up a Walking football session in Knutsford in partnership with Cheshire East Council as part of The National League Trust funded Residents 1st Programme.

We now have over fourteen regular participants who turn up every two Tuesdays to take part in the activities.

Walking football coach Josh Hawkes had this to say about the sessions
Obviously its fantastic to see these Gentlemen turn up every couple of weeks to participate in walking football. Compared to when the session first started you can see an overall improvement in their health and that’s really pleasing to see! We are currently looking to get a friendly match set up between the Macclesfield walking football group and the Knutsford lot. This would be a fantastic opportunity to add a competitive edge to the sessions”

This National League Trust & Cheshire East funded programme increase access to services on a local level and creates pathways for residents to actively participate in health improving sessions. Activities aim to improve physical health as well as mental and social well being.

In a recently conducted survey:

100% of participants said that the Residents 1st programme has helped their mental and social wellbeing.

97% of participants confirmed that they now exercise more often because of Residents 1st programme.

93% of participants within the Residents 1st Programme felt they have achieved a healthier and more active lifestyle thanks to the Macclesfield Town CST sessions.

Thanks to The National League Trust, PFA and Premier League

for their financial support. As well as a big  thanks to the Cheshire East Public Health team and a special thanks to Val Burlison for assisting in the creation of the programme.
